Lake Hope Fall Hike 2008

Thanks to the small but dedicated team who led the Fall Hike experience at Lake Hope on October 18. There was a large turnout of participants, the weather was fantastic, and a great time was had by all.

If you have led the Fall Hike in years past, leave a comment below with your memories. Next year will be the 30th anniversary of the hike, and Hocking College Interpreter volunteers have been involved from the beginning (or close to it!)

Astronomy training

If any of you are looking for a great opportunity for training, check out Astronomy from the Ground Up (AFGU). The activities and content are designed for non-formal education sites (nature centers, museums, etc.), and are GREAT!

You can apply for a FREE online or onsite workshop, and receive a bunch of great materials and ideas. I've incorporated them into Night Interpretation class, and think they would be a great tool for most Naturalists/Interpreters. Check it out!

Interp Club meeting update

Join us next Wednesday for the Interp Club. We will be meeting at 5pm at the "Clubhouse", the little building next to the bookstore on campus (what used to be the Welcome Center, or Campus Security office- depending on how long you've been here!) There is a LOT to work on, as we have taken on 3 programs in the next few weeks:

1. Oct. 18, 1-4pm Fall Festival at Lake Snowden- making crafts, leading games, etc.
2. Oct. 24, 6:30-8pm- Halloween Hike for kids- stations along the trail to teach and entertain about subjects like spiders, snakes, bats, witch-hazel, etc.
3. Oct. 29, 8-? Halloween campfire at Robbins Crossing- ghost stories, refreshments, etc.

Well, here goes!
I'm giving this a try as a way to get out information to current students of Natural and Historical Interpretation students at Hocking College, graduates of the program, friends of the program, and anyone else who stumbles by. Please feel free to provide comments, feedback, posting ideas, cash (just kidding), or whatever will help this stay interesting and up to date.
