Celebrate Science!

Lots of great local opportunities to hear a variety of speakers are on the horizon, particularly regarding evolution and Charles Darwin

On Tuesday, February 2, 7:30pm, David Quammen, Author of "The Reluctant Mr. Darwin" will speak as part of the "Frontiers in Science" Lecture Series at Ohio University's Memorial Auditorium.

Also, on February 12, at 12 noon in the Baker Center Ballroom, Dr. Catherine Badgley will present "From Fossils to Food: A Darwinian Perspective on the Modern Biodiversity Crisis". On June 3, Dr. Elliot Sober will present "Did Darwin Write the Origin of Species Backwards?"For more information, visit the OCEES Science Seminars site.

Storytelling Class

Want to develop your storytelling skills? On Tuesdays from March 2-April 13, Athens Public Library is offering a storytelling class, led by professional storyteller Thomas Burnett. The final class will be a public "concert" of stories, and the entire program is free. For more information, and to register for the class (required), call Athens Public Library at 592-4272.
